5th STEP Skills Competition

          Division of Cebu Secondary STEP Skills Competition formally opened last September 21, 2006 at Daanbantayan National High School Quadrangle.

           Bearing the theme, “STEP Skills: Moving up from underground (school and backyard) to mainstream economy,” the said activity was participated in by the different secondary schools coming from the municipalities of Cebu Province.

           The program kicked off with a parade and then followed by the program proper. The participants rendered a short yell as they were called by district. Mr. Joey Pelaez, Undersecretary, Department of Education and Mrs. Araceli Cabahug, Principal I of Daanbantayan National High School delivered their welcome address. After which was the ribbon cutting of the YECS bazaar.

           The delegates competed in their respective STEP skill namely; Newsletter, PowerPoint presentation, pattern drafting, pumpkin pie, residential wiring, plumbing, AM radio assembly, asexual propagation, dish gardening, cocktail mixing, spreadsheet, birthday cake decorating, table setting, masonry, mural painting, flower pot stand, house plan, ICT-Project Proposal, Animal Production, Bangus Deboning, French style sardines, hairstyle and make-up, starter motor assembly, photographic T-shirt printing, upholstering a stool, homepage designing and Techno Quiz.

           The STEP Skill Competition was highlighted by the selection of Mr. and Ms. STEP 2006 and the election of Division STEP Skills Organization (DSSO). There were also demonstrations on cocktail mixing, photographic T-shirt printing and sardines making.

           The three day activity serves as elimination at the same time as a preparation for the coming Regional STEP Skills Competition to be held on October 24-30 at the province of SIQUIJOR.
